What does Zero mean to you?

Zero is something we use every day, but it doesn’t physically exist, which makes it hard to fully comprehend. When first starting the book, research led to the discovery that people found it hard to comprehend and talk about zero in any words that weren’t just saying it was nothing. This book is aimed at celebrating zero by highlighting its importance and how reliant we are on it.

The book lacks imagery to place emphasis on zero as a powerful concept rather than something that can be summed up in photos. A lot of the design is focused on using illustrative type to represent the ideas of the page and of zero in an expressive and engaging manner. The colour scheme throughout is purely black and white, relating to the idea of zero being nothing or null, whilst contrasting each other as an effective colour scheme.
